Meet our Pastor

Pastor Edward Falsey - Born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, Ed Falsey graduated from Cornell University College of Arts & sciences and the University of Connecticut Law School. After clerking for Chief Judge T. Emmet Clarie in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, Ed worked as a trial lawyer in the litigation departmet of Wiggin & Dana in New Haven. Discerning a call to the ministry, he left the practive of law to attend divinity school at Yale University.

Ed graduated from seminary and was ordained a minister in the United Church of Christ in 1992. He has served as associate minister, First Congregational Church, Deep River; pastor, United Congregational Church of Westerly, Stonington, Connecticut; interim pastor, First Church of Christ, New London; and pastor, Avon Congregational Church, Avon, Connecticut.

He and his wife, Daphne Vayos, have two children, Alexandra, a high school senior, and Peter, a high school freshman.

Asked about his vocation, Ed said; "Ministry is a special calling, a calling which has given me a unique chance to get to know people, to listen to their stories and share in their lives, to be allowed in at important moments, and to witness, and witness to, the love and presence of God."

"I am excited about the opportunity to work along side you as you discern where God is calling Center Congregational Church. I look forward to the task before us as we articulate that vision for the future of Center Church and you prepare to call your next settled pastor."

In his spare time, Ed enjoys cycling, hiking with his retriever (Carson), sailing, creative writing and baking.
