Rev. Averill speaks of her time going and preparing to become a Navy Chaplain and compares it to Jesus’s time retiring to the wilderness before his Ministry to go and prepare for that Ministry.  To go for forty times, in Hebrew math, meant to go “for a long time” or “for eternity.”  It was then that the Devil tempted him, not Jesus personally, but with visions of what his ministry could be if he gave in to the visions the Devil gave him.
